So, here I sit in my house, in my bed, safe and secure. For the last three nights, this was not the case.
The Gray Road Fire caused us on Friday to evac out. It was a rushed evac, with a lot of things that went wrong. However, we were safe, the cats were safe - they spent a night in Sam's car, and then two nights at a vet clinic being boarded - and we got out okay.
We've learned, and will be doing things to make our next one a bit better.
Now, we are home again. The smoke damage isn't nearly as bad as we feared. Both Sam and I are frazzled, horrified, and just... done.
But we are home. Now, the Gray Fire is still going and it's entirely possible we get evacuated again. But that's a worry for later.
We were at a friend's place so it's not like we weren't safe and secure? But, it wasn't home. And Scotty has forgiven me for leaving him in that place. I'm very... unsure about this part. I was always so sure of being in Washington state, but now.... I'm scared, and I know I'm just reacting, so to bed with me.
