Westward bound
Aug. 15th, 2022 02:42 pmSo, as was stated here We're moving to Spokane, WA.
Things have changed.
I've gotten cold feet about driving clear across the country, especially through the mountains. so, new plan is to fly. Now, Sam's dad won't fly, but we're going to stick him on a train and get him cross country that way. That means shipping the cars. Sigh.
But, flying is 1) shorter and 2) less stress on me/the cats/my son.
It might equal out to the same cost anyway, because of gas, hotel and food.
Might even be cheaper.
So, we're going to ship the cars cross country, and fly. I doubt Scotty will be thrilled, but.... No help for it.
All of this is subject to change yet again, just because I like having options. But for right now, this is what we're doing. Flying, probably out of Dayton.
( Budget )
I wanted to stop and see people, but that's just not in the cards. The weather's too unpredictable, especially in the mountains. And that worries me, especially staring at "Twenty car pile up!" headlines and knowing I'd be one of the idiots stuck in the snow, trying to get through! (If I was lucky enough to avoid the pileup that is!)
So, for now... time to add estimates to the private plurk I have going.
Edit: So! It appears, I have to quit my job in January in order to get my money for the move. I am not thrilled with this. In fact, I'm pissed. I should be able to take my retirement money out as and when I wish!
