Script Frenzy
So, I've decided to do it, starting tomorrow. I'm totally chill with the idea that I can use it to script out a pair of novels I'd like to work on. That'll be a good thing. Maybe, it'll lead to something good happening in the future.
So, if anyone knows where there might be tutorials for Celtx? I'm all ears. I'm going to be trolling youtube looking for them once I'm done with Saturday things.
So, yes. Now, currently the thought is this for Script Frenzy:
I have two stories that I'd like to poke at and get working on. (One Winged Angel and Dragon Voices)
Those two stories will be the ones that I will be scripting out, during Script Frenzy in a hope to make them easier to write in the future. (Planning! Yay!)
Also during the month of April, I'll be finishing up my edit of Dragon Blooded (sense a theme, folks).
So, let me look at the next few months:
April:
- Script Frenzy (One Winged Angel/Dragon Voices)
- Finish Edit on Dragon Blooded
- Work on Geisha
May:
- Work on Geisha
- Finish NaNo 2011
- Query Letter (KoO)
- Secret Societies
June:
- Finish Geisha
That's as far ahead as I'm willing to go right now, since the middle of May signals the end of school. And I can't guarantee anything getting done during the summer months, save for being very hot.
Also, since this is my creativity blog:
I like working on the Geisha while watching TV shows/Movies/Anime. Please give me recommendations for movies/tv shows/anime that I might like. (Currently watching: Supernatural. Next on the list: Leverage.)
What I like:
- Police procedural
- Mystical/mythical elements
- Fights are a bonus
- Large overarching plots
What I don't like:
- Romance as a main plot line
- Rape culture
- Embarrassment as a major component (which is what made me stop watching Big Bang Theory)
- Sitcoms
So, if you've any suggestions, feel free! Because I'm kinda tired of the tried and true (CSIs, Law and Orders, etc) and would like to branch out a little bit. Keep in mind, it can have some parts from both lists and doesn't have to hit all of them. I'm willing to look at just about anything.

Do you/have you watched Fringe? Because if not, OMG. It has all of your "like" elements and only one of your "don't like" elements (the romance, though I don't think that really gets going until the second or third season... it's a pretty big deal now in the fourth season though). It is so awesome. It's more sci-fi than mystical/mythical but it's not like... hard sci-fi. I dunno, it's hard to explain. But it's awesome. Relevant icon is relevant.
Also, on the police procedural front, I love Criminal Minds and NCIS--I would think they count as tried and true but they're not on your list ;)

Lately I've been watching Being Human (US) -- which is way, way better than I ever expected -- and Lost Girl -- which is about a bisexual succubus private detective who deals in fae issues. I mean, you can't go wrong there, can you? I've got almost through the first season of Being Human and love it, but I started with S2 of Lost Girl so I'm not quite as up to date. It's pretty cool, though. Both definitely have the large, overarching plot thing kicking too. And fights.
I am also obsessed with Spartacus, which is the best for overarching plot ever. Also lots of super pressurized blood spurting from hacked limbs/heads/everywhere in a very anime way. There is also a lot of rape, however -- it is presented as the horror it is, but still, could be very triggery.

So, we'll see how it goes!

I'm the same way about needing prepped for gratuitous violence and/or rape. That and how it's depicted is important to me. And I will say this for Spartacus: it's not just the women in compromising positions. They're pretty awesome like that.
But Being Human and Lost Girl, though of course they deal with serious issues, also have enough humor to lighten things up. I think you'd be amused by either, especially since, you know. Supernatural type deals.

(even though I'm only halfway through season 3 and am horribly behind)
It's adorable and procedural and quirky and gets how to NOT be obnoxious or cringy with geek references and in jokes, and whilst each episode is case-of-the-week, there is also a season arc (or, in the case of Castle, a multi-season arc) that shows up regularly and in interesting ways.
i even wrote fic for it, I like it that much. And I have massive avoidance issues with writing fic for open-canon media sources, so that should tell you something about the ridiculous heart-shaped-eyes it's made me produce
