Content Note/Warnings: Rissa-fic.

How had this happened?

Rissa looked at the stable door, weighing the odds of her actually getting out of here without breaking something vital.

The stallion snorted, shifting agitatedly in the stall. His black mane fell long against his neck. His tail brushed the floor of the stall. Hooves big enough to cave in her head stomped and pawed at the straw. He shook his massive head, his forelock dropping into his eyes once again.

His nostrils worked quickly, obviously able to smell something she couldn’t.

Rissa still wasn’t sure how this had happened. She’d come into the barn to start the morning’s chores. Her own horses had been turned out. Fyre’s horse – Darkflame – had also gone. That had just left this majestic guy.

She understood that Lady Guir needed to stable her stallion here. Rissa even encouraged her to do it. The stallion was almost perfection. Good solid musculature, over a solid foundation, and Rissa couldn’t find a single fault with him. At least physically.

His attitude, however, left something to be desired.

She eased along the wall, trying to get to the door. If she could just get there, then everything would be alright. One of those big hooves stomped and she barely moved her foot in time. The stallion snorted again, his head shaking.

His hide quivered and sweat streaked his shoulders.

Something had him spooked, and here Rissa was, completely trapped in the stall with him. Her hand rose, gently resting against his shoulder. “Easy, Nightfire.” She whispered. He wouldn’t be the first spooked horse she’d calmed. “Easy. Everything’s gonna be okay.” Her hand ran along his hide, wiping away the sweat.

His head whipped around and his teeth flashed, clashing shut just short of her arm.

Rissa withdrew her hand and sighed. The only thing she could hope for now was for someone to come looking for her.
