2024 in Review

Okay, so I had some goals for this year:

- edit and submit Steampunk
- keep my job (not a danger, just a goal)
- Get the house decorated
- finish the estate bullshit

Let's look at what I actually accomplished:

- Edited Steampunk
- Decorated the house
- finished the estate

Let's look at what I failed at:

- Submitted Steampunk
- Keep my job

So, now into 2025:

- Rewrite Steampunk
- Submit Steampunk
- Finish decorating the house
- Move?*
- Submit Narissia

I'm not sure that I'll accomplish everything, but I can try, right? I'm going to try.

*This... is a possibility. We need a four bedroom, but we can't move unless I get a full time job, because my job just doesn't pay the bills. Not yet, anyway.

Sigh, the year will be interesting.

Three out of four is a pretty good success rate. I hope you find a better job soon.

Those are good goals. You might like [community profile] goals_on_dw which has a post for 2024 in review and 2025 New Year's Resolutions and Other Goals.

Keep an eye out for houses that aren't advertised as 4-bedroom but have spaces that can serve as a bedroom (or office, or whatever). There might be a smaller room, an attic, a basement, etc.

That does make things challenging. Finding a completely flat house is hard, although some regions do favor the "ranch" style which, if not completely flat, tends to be easily made so. On the bright side, accessory dwelling units are becoming more popular, thus more legal -- and that includes a suite or apartment stuck on the side of a house. Depending on local terrain, sometimes it's easier to add one instead of finding a big enough house that already has flat access from an existing door. A newer accessible bathroom is also likely better than an older, smaller one. Or you might find a house that recently had one tacked on.

Ideas to ask your real estate agent if you wind up house-hunting. I hope it works out for you.
