The New Year

So, as I sit at my desk entirely too early in the morning, I’ve begun thinking about my goal of publishing something this year. And I have a couple of candidates, just waiting on the brain meats to cooperate. But as I think about them, I have noticed a dearth in my skills that, ironically, contain writing.

- Query letter I’ve written exactly two of these. One for an accepted flash piece, and one for a “Please edit this” manuscript. I enjoy writing the stories, the query letters? No. Absolutely not. I actually need an editor more for the letter than I do for the manuscript.
- Editing God editing is so hard for me. So hard. I need to do more, and once I’m done actually do the rewriting that needs to be done.

That’s two of the things I can think of, but… honestly, I’m sick and can’t think well.

Ooof. I’ve been permanently turned off of query writing from my experience at AbsoluteWrite. I’ve contemplated just going the self-pub route entirely to avoid query writing. It’s too horrifying. Maybe someone else can do it for me?
