Creativity... it happens.
So, I've recently taken up knitting again. As this post showed, I did a lot of it at the end of the year.
Right now, I am working on another hat. But, I've been changing the pattern a little, because, well, I wanted to.
This post is going to be about that project. So, I'm making this hat that I've made twice before.
Except, I've changed the pattern. I was doing the striped one that's the second one down. Son wanted a green hat, but I don't have enough yarn to make a fully green hat, so I had to change colors. I'm going to be adding a couple other colors too, just because. It's good practice for me to learn a new method, and it gives my son an awesome hat!
Under the cut is my pattern that I'm using, and the video that taught me to change colors.
Firstly, the pattern:
Rows 1-12: Garter stitch in main colour.
Rows 13-24: Stocking stitch in contrast 1, starting with a knit row.
Rows 25-36: Garter stitch in main colour.
Rows 37-48: Stocking stitch in contrast 2, starting with a knit row.
Rows 49-60: Garter stitch in main colour.
Rows 61-72: Stocking stitch on contrast 3, starting with a knit row.
Rows 73-78: Garter stitch in main for 6 rows.
If hat isn’t tall enough, add a few more rows before decreasing.
Decrease: Keep using main colour.
Row 79: #Knit 2, knit 2 tog, Repeat from # to end of row. Just knit any stitches that don’t fit into this pattern.
Row 80: Knit.
Row 81: Same as 79.
Row 82: Knit.
Row 83: Same as 79.
Row 84: Knit.
You should now have about 28 sts left. (It’s not important to have exactly that many, by the way).
Row 85: Knit.
Cut yarn, leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn. Thread through remaining stitches on needle & sew up.
I would recommend a longer than 12inch tail, because it does take a bit to learn how to stitch it together.
Now, the video:
It worked for me!
So, yes. Here we go.
