Title: Relaxation
Prompt: Lazy Day Off
Rating: G
Content Note/Warnings: NaNo verse
“How is it,” Riku complained, “that even when you have a day off, I can find you looking for someone to read to you? Or you’re practicing your calligraphy, or you’re outside practicing?”
Ryuusuke didn’t bother to explain. Instead, he stared straight ahead, the brush held steady in one hand. Slowly, he began the precise strokes that would become symbols on the page.
It wasn’t that Riku was lazy… Alright, he was. Especially when it came to doing all these things that Grandfather thought a ‘well rounded young man’ should do.
He was almost as good with a sword as Ryuusuke, his shadow magic was far better, he was passing all his classes and his omoiyoosha abilities hadn’t appeared yet. Really, what was the point of spending so much time doing the extra work?
Ryuusuke continued. His brush made gentle strokes on the paper. Riku admired his control. He sure as hell didn’t have the patience to do it. Ryuusuke managed, even though they were only teenagers, to have a certain grace to him when he did it.
No one would ever know that the man was blind. Hell, half the time Riku forgot that Ryuusuke couldn’t see. He didn’t need help around the Sanctuary, he fought in the sword ring, better than most of the sighted students their age and even some older, he did calligraphy.
The brush was put on the holder, and Ryuusuke finally turned to look at him. It was eerie the way he always knew where Riku was. “Did you want something?”
Riku ignored the bored, distant tone that Ryuusuke was constantly trying to perfect. It didn’t work on him. Sure, he’d need it some day when he was the Oshiro, but it still wouldn’t work on Riku.
He snorted at his sort-of-brother. “Yes. We’re going out.” He rolled to his feet and grabbed Ryuusuke’s hand. “It’s a day off, Beebee.” He dredged up his old nickname for Ryuusuke. “Let’s relax, go do something. Let’s find Kiku or something.” He dragged Ryuusuke toward the door. “You know, fun things.”
Ryuusuke stumbled and automatically, Riku stabilized him.
“I was having fun, Kuku.” Ryuusuke sounded slightly annoyed.
Riku snorted and shook his head. “Day off, Beebee. Let’s go.” He ignored Ryuusuke’s huffed out sigh and dragged him into the sun.
